Visiting Jersey can be difficult for non English speakers so members of the Journey Boutique team were very pleased to have the opportunity to organise a day trip from France for 60 Polish Telecom Union members.

We all met at the Albert Pier where Minibus Direct were waiting we made our introductions and set off to introduce Jersey to our Polish visitors.Starting in St Helier we visited Liberation Square and explained how Jersey was occupied by the Nazi forces during the second world war and then on to the Royal Square where we touched on how Jersey is governed. The relationship with the UK and how we are linked was something they found very interesting.

Then on the bus off to Gorey and sight seeing around our coast. The weather was stunning and a perfect backdrop to Gorey Castle and our lush green countryside. The tide was out and one of our team was asked “do you have any beaches where you can swim ?” we explained how the tidal range is one of the biggest in the world and the sea comes right up the wall later in the day.

Relaxing at The Farm House St John

Relaxing at The Farm House St John

Our Polish visitors took a lunch break at The Farm House in St John where they stopped for Tea, Coffee and sandwiches and sat in the glorious sunshine. Continuing the journey around the coast off we went to Noirmont Point where the fortifications built by the slave workers of WW2 sit overlooking the sea. We explained that there were Polish slave workers here during the war and there is a memorial where they are remembered.

Then to St Aubin where a delicious meal was waiting for us at The Boat House. The Polish Consul to Jersey Wanda Adams met with our visitors, they were surprised to hear of the large Polish community in Jersey.

The goodbyes were said at the harbour when our visitors boarded the Manche Des Iles to Granville and an enjoyable day with some new friends came to an end.

Many thanks to Minibus direct for the fantastic service and also to The Farm House and The Boat House staff for feeding us and Wanda Adams who made the Jersey welcome just that little bit more special.
